Green Hydrogen Consortium Wins Bid for Electrolyser Manufacturing Plant in India
Key Ideas
  • Gensol Engineering and Matrix Gas & Renewables secured a bid for a 237 MW annual capacity electrolyser manufacturing plant in India.
  • The project aligns with India's goal of producing 5 million metric tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030.
  • The collaboration aims to drive large-scale decarbonization through green hydrogen, low-carbon energy, green steel, and green ammonia production.
Gensol Engineering, a renewable energy EPC player, and Matrix Gas & Renewables, a green hydrogen infrastructure developer, have jointly won a bid in India for a 237 MW annual capacity electrolyser manufacturing plant under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme. The competitive tender was secured through Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The consortium, comprising Gensol-Matrix, has also been awarded an additional 63 MW capacity from the SECI tender, totaling 300 MW and receiving a cumulative incentive of Rs 450 crore under the PLI scheme. This initiative is crucial for India's ambition to produce 5 million metric tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030. Chirag Kotecha, the Whole-time Director at Matrix Gas and Renewables, highlighted the significance of electrolyser manufacturing in achieving large-scale decarbonization and fostering green hydrogen and its derivatives like green steel and green ammonia. The collaboration between Gensol and Matrix, both backed by common entities, signifies a strategic partnership to leverage their expertise for the advancement of green hydrogen technologies.
