Indian startup Vjaitra Air Mobility, a division of Darsh Dronobotics Systems, has partnered with Trouvé Innovation Hub to develop hydrogen-based 5-seater air taxis for urban mobility in India. These air taxis are designed to cover distances of up to 600 km, addressing the need for efficient travel between metropolitan cities. Trouvé Innovation Hub will assist in raising funds to build a full-scale prototype of the hydrogen air taxi. This initiative aims to offer an eco-friendly and quieter mode of transportation compared to traditional methods. The project not only focuses on passenger transport but also explores applications in ambulance services, VIP escort, and disaster recovery operations. The collaboration is a significant step towards enhancing urban air mobility and emergency response capabilities. The Urban Air Mobility project in India is progressing, with the Aviation Ministry forming technical committees to assess feasibility and policy-making. Additionally, other companies like InterGlobe Enterprises and US-based Archer Aviation are planning to introduce all-electric air taxi services in India by 2026. These services aim to provide swift transportation between locations, such as from Connaught Place in Delhi to Gurugram in just 7 minutes. The growing interest in air taxis, both hydrogen-powered and all-electric, demonstrates a shift towards sustainable and innovative solutions for urban transportation in India.
