Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has forged a significant partnership with the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd with the aim of investigating the potential for extensive utilization of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in India. The alliance involves the transfer of a Hyundai NEXO Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) to IndianOil for practical testing over a 40,000 km trial period. During the two-year experiment, both companies will closely monitor the vehicle's performance in terms of longevity and operational reliability. Additionally, a thorough Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis will be conducted to assess the economic and environmental advantages of embracing hydrogen-powered vehicles in the Indian market. Unsoo Kim, the Managing Director of HMIL, emphasized that the collaboration's objective is to unlock the potential of green hydrogen, aiming to enhance accessibility and sustainability of this energy source.
