India and the United States have agreed to boost their Sustainable Energy Partnership by focusing on various initiatives to promote clean energy and sustainability. The joint statement issued after the Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP) Ministerial highlighted the commitment of both nations towards enhancing energy efficiency, supporting renewable energy procurement, and modernizing the power distribution sector. The collaboration includes efforts to promote sustainable aviation fuel, electrification of vehicles, and the use of green hydrogen in buses, tractors, and heavy equipment. The ministers also discussed initiatives to enhance energy storage technologies, such as the launch of the Renewable Energy Technology Action Platform (RETAP) and the Energy Storage Task Force. Additionally, the partnership aims to support large-scale grid integration of renewable energy and enable flexible and reliable grid operations through energy storage solutions. The collaboration extends to capacity building and disseminating best practices to ensure a viable and sustainable clean energy transition. The establishment of the Renewable Energy Technology Action Platform (RETAP) and the National Centre for Hydrogen Safety in India are some of the key initiatives undertaken to advance emerging clean energy technologies. The joint efforts also focus on advancing energy storage technologies, such as long-duration energy storage, alternative chemistries to Li-ion technologies, and pumped storage options.
