The Indian government has announced a Rs 200 crore scheme to support the development of standards and regulatory frameworks under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This scheme will fund testing facilities, infrastructure, and institutional support, aiming to address gaps in the testing facilities within the green hydrogen value chain. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy stated that the scheme will also facilitate the creation of new testing facilities and upgrade existing ones to ensure safe operations. The scheme, with a budget of Rs 200 crore until the financial year 2025-26, will be implemented by the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE). The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in 2023 with a significant outlay of Rs 19,744 crore until FY 2029-30, is expected to drive decarbonisation of the economy, reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a technology and market leader in green hydrogen.
