In a significant development for India's green energy sector, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi oversaw the signing of the nation's first-ever agreement to export Green Ammonia to Japan. This agreement, a milestone in India's ambition to lead in green hydrogen and ammonia production, involves Sembcorp Industries, Sojitz Corporation, Kyushu Electric Power, and NYK Line, establishing a pioneering cross-border partnership. The agreement entails Sembcorp Industries producing green ammonia in India using renewable energy, which will be integrated into the energy mix of Kyushu Electric Power in Japan. Sojitz Corporation will facilitate the connection between the producer and the off-taker, while NYK Line will manage the maritime transport of the green ammonia from India to Japan. Minister Joshi further revealed that tenders for Green Ammonia production are currently open, with plans to incentivize the production of over a million tonnes per annum of Green Hydrogen.
