During President Tharman Shanmugaratnam's visit to India, a focus has been placed on the creation of a green energy corridor and data corridor between India and Singapore. The two countries are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on green hydrogen, with plans for a corridor linking Tuticorin and Paradip in Odisha. Additionally, discussions are ongoing for cooperation in areas like green shipping, industrial parks, petrochemical complexes, and semiconductor manufacturing. The collaboration aims to enhance skill development, with specific emphasis on the aerospace sector. Singapore's expertise in maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) for aerospace is seen as valuable for India, especially with a significant number of aircraft orders. The partnership is expected to not only generate employment opportunities but also create value addition, potentially establishing India as an MRO hub. Both countries are looking to leverage each other's strengths, with Singapore's established players like ST Engineering and SIA Engineering seeking to collaborate with India to develop the MRO sector further.
