The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has announced projects to produce 7.5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen per year, surpassing the country's 2030 target of 5 MMT. Secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla expressed confidence in meeting the production goals during the curtain-raiser event for the 2nd International Conference on Green Hydrogen. The National Green Hydrogen Mission of 2023 has already allocated substantial incentives, including Rs 4,400 crore for electrolyser manufacturing and Rs 13,050 crore for green hydrogen production to 18 companies. Minister Pralhad Joshi highlighted India's upcoming leadership in green hydrogen production and export at the event. The conference, scheduled between 11 and 13 September in New Delhi, will involve discussions on R&D, technology, and strategies with a focus on green hydrogen. India's aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and move towards net-zero emissions aligns with the adoption of renewable energy in hydrogen production. The country's competitive renewable energy prices, integrated grid, abundant coastline, and young talent pool position India favorably for green hydrogen production.
