Amara Raja Infra, a part of the $2 billion Amara Raja Group, has successfully set up India’s first green hydrogen fuelling station in Leh, Ladakh, for NTPC Ltd, marking a significant milestone in green mobility. This innovative project, inaugurated by Union Power Minister Manohar Lal, is designed to produce 80 kg of green hydrogen daily and supports NTPC’s green mobility initiatives under the National Hydrogen Energy Mission. The station will also assist in the operation of five hydrogen fuel cell buses in the region, promoting emission-free transport. Despite facing extreme weather conditions with temperatures ranging from -25°C to 30°C, the project was completed in two years, highlighting Amara Raja Infra’s expertise in handling complex infrastructure projects. The station's location in Leh at an altitude of 3,400 meters further adds to the challenges overcome during its setup. This green hydrogen fuelling station is not only crucial for promoting emission-free transport in Leh but also holds national significance as it paves the way for larger hydrogen mobility and storage projects across India. It is expected to support the expansion of similar hydrogen fuelling stations nationwide, contributing to India’s sustainable energy future and strengthening the country's position in the adoption of green technologies.
