The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) in India is spearheading the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) with the ambitious goal of achieving an annual production capacity of 5 million tonnes of Green Hydrogen by 2030. The mission, launched in January 2023 with a significant budget allocation, aims to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy security, and pave the way for a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. MNRE has introduced Scheme Guidelines to support Green Ammonia production for the Fertiliser sector, with recent amendments increasing the allocation to meet growing demand. By promoting Green Hydrogen adoption and investing in renewable energy technologies, India aims to lead the global Clean Energy Transition and establish itself as a key player in sustainable energy practices. The Mission not only addresses immediate energy needs but also sets a paradigm for a cleaner, greener economy, reducing reliance on fossil fuel imports and mitigating environmental degradation. Through strategic investments and collaborations, the National Green Hydrogen Mission seeks to catalyze a sustainable energy revolution that benefits India and serves as a model for global efforts towards a more sustainable future.
