Johnson Matthey (JM) has inaugurated a new Engineering Centre in Mumbai, emphasizing its dedication to India as a strategic partner in manufacturing and engineering. The centre aims to leverage India's engineering talent and expertise to expand JM's project capabilities in core licensing and emerging sectors like hydrogen and sustainable fuels. Maurits van Tol, Chief Executive for Catalyst Technologies, praised India's engineering prowess and highlighted the importance of recruiting local talent to support global projects in low-carbon technologies. The new centre aligns with India's objective of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 by focusing on developing projects to reduce carbon emissions in various sectors, including hydrogen, sustainable fuels, sustainable methanol, and specialty chemicals. Ramsundar Solaimalai will lead the centre, which was inaugurated at an event attended by influential figures from India's market. Harjinder Kang, the British Deputy High Commissioner for Western India, expressed his excitement about JM's expansion in India, emphasizing the UK's commitment to clean growth partnerships. With a longstanding presence in India for 60 years and over 1,000 employees across multiple operational sites in the country, JM's new centre signifies its continuous commitment to innovation and sustainable solutions.
