The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), led a meeting at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat to discuss the implementation of the Green Hydrogen Roadmap for Ladakh-2030 by NTPC Ltd. The Chief General Manager, DMR Panda, informed about the initiatives, including setting up a Green Hydrogen Fuelling Station, Solar Plant, and introducing five Fuel Cell buses in Ladakh. These efforts aim to help Ladakh reach its goal of becoming a carbon-neutral region. The Green Hydrogen Vision for Ladakh focuses on energy security, employment generation, carbon neutrality, and self-reliance. The LG inquired about various aspects of the project, including the production capacity of green hydrogen, coverage area, funding sources, and potential impact on agricultural land. DMR Panda highlighted that the solar plant would be located at Chushul and would assist in providing uninterrupted electricity while replacing DG sets. The project involves an investment of around Rs 75 crores, with each fuel cell bus costing approximately Rs 2.5 crores. The LG approved the project, considering it a significant step towards pollution-free energy generation. The meeting was attended by officials from NTPC Ltd, Price waterhouse Coopers (PwC), and the Chief Engineer of PDD UT Ladakh. The project's approval indicates a positive sentiment towards sustainable energy solutions and a cleaner future for Ladakh.
