NTPC Green Energy Ltd, a state-owned company, is embarking on a groundbreaking venture to establish India's first green hydrogen hub and purpose-built transmission network in Andhra Pradesh. The project, estimated at Rs 30,000 crore, aims to support a 20 GW capacity network dedicated to green hydrogen production. The green hydrogen hub planned in Pudimadaka across 1,600 acres is poised to be a key player in India's clean energy sector, with an expected daily output of 1,500 tonnes of green hydrogen. This clean fuel, produced through electrolysis powered by renewable energy, holds promise in decarbonizing challenging sectors like steel and refineries, contributing significantly to lowering carbon emissions. The innovative transmission network will link NTPC's solar project in Anantapur to the hydrogen hub in Pudimadaka, setting the stage for a specialized renewable energy system that operates independently from the national grid. Unlike conventional power grids, this system is tailored to manage round-the-clock renewable energy flow, with a projected capacity of 20 GW by 2032. This ambitious initiative marks a significant leap towards India's sustainable energy future, positioning NTPC Green Energy as a pioneer in the country's clean energy landscape.
