In a significant development, GRIDCO and Avaada Green H2 signed an agreement in Bhubaneswar for a 300 MW green power banking facility to support a Green Ammonia Plant in Gopalpur, Ganjam. This initiative falls under the OERC Green Energy Open Access Regulations, 2023, and is set to begin on December 31, 2028, for a period of 25 years. Odisha is emerging as a key player in the green hydrogen and ammonia sector, offering an ideal environment for their development, bolstered by necessary infrastructure and policies. The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the state's approval of 14 green hydrogen/ammonia projects, attracting investments worth Rs 2 lakh crores and creating 22,000 job opportunities.
