Sembcorp Green Hydrogen Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries based in Singapore, has joined forces with two Japanese companies to facilitate the procurement of green ammonia from India. The partnership involves Sojitz Corp. and Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. and aims to solidify a definitive agreement for green ammonia off-take. Building on a previous agreement from December, the collaboration was announced at the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Clean Economy Investor Forum, with participation from key officials from Japan, Singapore, and India. The project spearheaded by Sembcorp plans to establish facilities in India to produce 200,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia annually using renewable energy sources. This strategic move not only supports a low-carbon supply chain but also bolsters the transition to a clean economy in the region, reflecting the commitment of the involved parties to advancing the energy transition and sustainability.
