Tata Motors has embarked on a groundbreaking journey towards sustainable transportation in India by initiating trials of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks as part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This strategic move aims to evaluate the feasibility and commercial potential of hydrogen-based vehicles for long-distance freight transport. The trial phase will see the deployment of 16 advanced trucks featuring Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engines and Fuel Cell technologies across major freight routes including Mumbai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and more. Prominent figures like Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Pralhad Joshi have commended the initiative as a crucial step towards reducing emissions and enhancing energy self-reliance. The hydrogen-powered vehicles, with operational ranges of 300-500 km, are engineered to deliver sustainable, cost-efficient, and high-performance transportation solutions.
