Tata Steel has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first Indian steel company to develop pipes specifically for hydrogen transportation, furthering India's commitment to clean energy. The pipes, made using steel from Tata Steel’s Kalinganagar plant and processed at its Khopoli plant, successfully passed all critical properties required for hydrogen transportation. Tata Steel's in-house innovation was instrumental in designing and developing the technology from manufacturing hot-rolled steel to producing the pipes. The newly developed hydrogen-compliant pipes, meeting international standards, can transport pure gaseous hydrogen under high pressure, positioning Tata Steel as a leader in clean energy infrastructure development. The company's Vice-President emphasized their dedication to contributing to India’s National Hydrogen Mission and providing essential physical infrastructure for the domestic energy sector. This achievement follows the legacy of Tata Group, which has a significant global impact with over 100 companies operating in more than 100 countries and a market capitalization of $403 billion.
