The Green Hydrogen Hub in Visakhapatnam, a collaboration between NTPC Green Energy Limited and NREDCAP, is set to revolutionize India's green energy sector. Spanning 1,200 acres near Gangavaram Seaport, the hub aims to produce green chemicals such as ammonia, methanol, and urea. The project outlines the creation of 25 industrial units within a 300-acre area, alongside the development of essential infrastructure like utilities, amenities, and logistics over another 300 acres. With a massive investment of approximately Rs 1.85 lakh crore, the Green Hydrogen Hub is projected to generate around 57,000 job opportunities before 2032, offering a significant boost to the local and national economies. The comprehensive infrastructure plan includes the establishment of roads, industrial hubs, power, water facilities, desalination plants, port infrastructure, and chemical storage, signifying a substantial leap towards sustainable energy practices. Moreover, the initiative's emphasis on renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and pumped storage underlines a commitment to meeting energy needs while curbing pollution and addressing climate change challenges. This strategic move not only paves the way for a greener future but also heralds a new era of economic growth and job creation in Visakhapatnam.
