Essar Energy Transition (EET) Hydrogen has sealed a significant deal by signing an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with ENKA for the construction of a low carbon hydrogen production plant (HPP1) at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The UK government's funding support for HPP1 as the country's first large-scale low carbon hydrogen project represents a major milestone for the UK hydrogen industry and the HyNet Cluster. The HPP1 plant will boast a substantial production capacity of 350MW and is projected to capture approximately 6,00,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to removing around 2,50,000 cars from the roads annually, significantly contributing to decarbonisation efforts. This initiative signifies EET Hydrogen's progression towards its objective of establishing 4GW of low carbon hydrogen production to aid industrial businesses in the North West of England in decarbonising their operations, thereby safeguarding jobs and driving economic growth. The partnership with ENKA, a global engineering and construction firm known for its expertise in delivering complex projects, is seen as a crucial step in achieving EET Hydrogen's ambition to become the UK's premier producer of low carbon hydrogen. The CEOs of both companies, Joe Seifert and Hakan Kozan, have expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing ENKA's track record and commitment to excellence, which aligns with the project's goal of advancing the UK's low carbon hydrogen industry and supporting global decarbonisation efforts.
