Egypt has recently entered into nine agreements for concessional financing and grants with France and the EU, totaling EUR262.3 million. These deals will support priority projects in water treatment, sanitation, electricity, and rail transport sectors. The formalization of these agreements took place during the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Egypt, where a strategic partnership agreement was signed between the two nations. Egypt's Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, played a crucial role in renewing technical and financial cooperation with France, initiating new development projects to boost economic development efforts. Egypt has ambitious economic targets, aiming to attract $60 billion in foreign direct investment and increase export values to $145 billion, with a focus on enhancing private sector contributions. Furthermore, Egypt and France concluded a substantial EUR7 billion agreement to develop a green hydrogen production facility, aligning with efforts to address regional volatility and enhance stability. The collaboration between the two countries extends to various sectors like health, transport, and energy, with France demonstrating commitment to addressing urgent humanitarian issues through strategic partnership agreements.
