Hyundai Motor Group, in collaboration with Pertamina and West Java Province, is embarking on an ambitious project to establish a waste-to-hydrogen ecosystem in Indonesia. The initiative was announced during the Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit in Jakarta, where the Group outlined plans to launch an on-site hydrogen refueling station by 2027, utilizing Pertamina's CNG infrastructure. The project aims to extract low-carbon hydrogen from biogas at the Sarimukti landfill near Bandung. This initiative is part of the Group's efforts to expand its successful W2H model from Korea to Indonesia, marking its first overseas endeavor. The comprehensive hydrogen ecosystem includes partnerships with Indonesian ministries and Pertamina, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable solutions and addressing waste management challenges. The Group's CSR initiatives involve collaborating with organizations like Good Neighbors to improve local communities and prevent disasters, while focusing on low-carbon hydrogen production through Hyundai Rotem's technologies. By leveraging its HTWO brand and expertise in the hydrogen value chain, Hyundai aims to enhance the W2H ecosystem in Indonesia, positioning the country as a key gateway to the ASEAN market. The collaboration not only promotes environmental sustainability but also highlights the importance of government support in advancing hydrogen initiatives for a cleaner and greener future.
