INOX Air Products (INOXAP) has inaugurated its inaugural green hydrogen manufacturing plant at the Asahi India Glass facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, marking a milestone in India's clean energy transition. The plant, powered by solar energy, has the capacity to produce up to 190 tonnes of green hydrogen annually using electrolysis methods, with an initial output target of 95 tonnes per year. This initiative signifies the pioneering use of green hydrogen in the float glass manufacturing sector in India, highlighting a significant step towards decarbonization. Siddharth Jain, the Managing Director of INOXAP, emphasizes the environmental impact by stating that the green hydrogen supplied will help slash carbon dioxide emissions by 1,250 metric tonnes per annum. Rupinder Shelly, the COO of Architectural Glass at Asahi India Glass, underlines the long-term vision of powering 94% of the plant's energy needs through sustainable and low-carbon sources, showcasing a commitment to eco-friendly practices. Additionally, Asahi India Glass has embarked on another green initiative by partnering with AGC Europe to establish a greenfield project in Chittogarh for the production of float glass, essential for both automotive and architectural applications. This collaboration signifies a move towards greener manufacturing processes in the glass industry. INOXAP's proactive approach to sustainable energy solutions is further evidenced by their recent commissioning of India's first ultra-high-purity nitrous oxide plant in Manali, Chennai, with a substantial capacity of 1,700 tonnes per year.
