Technology firm thyssenkrupp is set to develop a 20-MW alkaline water electrolyzer for CF Industries Holdings’ green ammonia project in Donaldsville, Louisiana. While thyssenkrupp will handle the engineering and procurement aspects, CF Industries will manage the construction. This initiative aims to integrate carbon-free hydrogen into existing ammonia synthesis loops, allowing for the production of 20,000 tons of green ammonia annually. CF Industries plans to use renewable energy purchased across its network to power the electrolyzer, which will separate water into carbon-free hydrogen and oxygen. The project aligns with CF Industries' commitment to reducing its carbon footprint by 2030.
