Nine Australian innovators have been awarded a total of $6 million in funding to support international science and technology collaborations. The grants, provided by the Global Science and Technology Diplomacy Fund – Strategic Element (GSTDF-SE), aim to foster partnerships with countries such as Japan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Singapore, and New Zealand to drive advancements in various fields including AI, hydrogen, manufacturing, and more. Among the recipients, Associate Professor Markus Müllner from the University of Sydney is working on developing injectable hydrogels for medical purposes in collaboration with the Republic of Korea. Meanwhile, Professor Rose Amal from the University of New South Wales is leading a project with teams from Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore to establish a research hub for commercializing solar hydrogen production technology. The initiative, supported by the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and the Australian Academy of Science, aims to bolster Australia's innovation ecosystem and promote global collaboration in key areas of national interest.
