Mars Incorporated's Wodonga pet food manufacturing facility in Australia is making significant strides in renewable energy adoption. The company plans to deploy a 100% renewable energy solution for both electricity and process steam within the next two years, positioning itself as a leader in green process heat manufacturing on a national scale. The $39.3 million Mars Wodonga Solar Thermal Plant, supported by a government grant, will introduce an 18-megawatt Parabolic Trough Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) plant to provide thermal energy storage for pet food production. This initiative marks the first commercial deployment of CST technology in Australia and highlights Mars' commitment to decarbonizing industrial processes. Additionally, Mars has partnered with the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) to purchase Renewable Gas Guarantee of Origin certificates at Hydrogen Park Murray Valley, furthering its renewable energy goals. The company's global sustainability targets, including a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030, are reflected in these initiatives. Mars aims to create a renewable energy hub in north-east Victoria by collaborating with local entities, showcasing its dedication to sustainability and regional investment.
