Hyundai Motor Group announced plans to establish a waste-to-hydrogen (W2H) ecosystem in West Java Province, Indonesia, during the Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit in Jakarta. The collaboration involves Pertamina, a state-owned energy company, and includes the launch of an on-site hydrogen refueling station by 2027 using biogas from the Sarimukti landfill. The project, part of Indonesia's national hydrogen roadmap, showcases the Group's commitment to sustainable solutions. In addition to waste management, the initiative focuses on corporate social responsibility, disaster prevention, and community improvement. Hyundai's partnership with Pertamina aims to develop a comprehensive hydrogen ecosystem covering various aspects from land provision for refueling stations to hydrogen production and vehicle utilization. By leveraging its expertise and technology, the Group plans to expand its W2H model to Indonesia following its success in Korea. The strategic positioning of Indonesia as a gateway to the ASEAN market highlights Hyundai's dedication to advancing sustainable hydrogen initiatives internationally.
