Kaplan Industries, an Ohio-based cylinder supplier, has revealed a new high-pressure cylinder designed for hydrogen and other industrial gases. The recently unveiled ISO 6000 PSI, type 2 carbon fibre-wrapped cylinder complies with ISO 11119 and ISO 11623 standards. Notably, this innovative product is a lighter weight alternative, weighing only 50 lbs, yet offering the same capacity as traditional steel 6000 PSI cylinders. Kaplan Industries anticipates that the cylinder, which aims to reduce transportation costs significantly, will be available for purchase by late January to early February 2025. The design of the cylinder also allows for both five-year hydro testing and ultrasonic testing (UT).
