Spain has provided a €150m subsidy to back one of Cobra's green hydrogen endeavors, as confirmed by Spanish Industry Minister Jordi Hereu. This funding will aid Cobra, a French company division, in furthering its green hydrogen initiatives. Cobra recently secured an $80m contract from SMS Group to contribute to a green steel production plant in Duisburg, Germany, with a substantial annual direct reduced iron production capacity. The European Commission also granted €220m to support Cobra's renewable hydrogen production plans, part of the Important Project of Common European Interest focusing on hydrogen technologies. This initiative was recognised by Spain and the EU for its significance in the realm of hydrogen systems and technologies. The project aligns with the Guidelines on State aid for climate, environmental protection, and energy, underscoring its contribution to sustainable practices.
