Aramco and its partners have made significant progress in constructing phase one of a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) hub in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. This initiative, expected to be completed by 2027, aims to capture and store up to 9 million metric tons of CO2 annually. The project is part of Aramco's strategy to achieve net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and reduce Upstream carbon intensity by 15% by 2035. The hub, a key component in Aramco's emission mitigation strategy, also supports the Kingdom's net-zero objectives. The collaboration between Aramco, Linde, and SLB signifies the importance of global partnerships in driving innovation for emission reduction and promoting sustainable energy solutions. The project's success will contribute to the development of a lower-carbon economy and help meet the growing demand for affordable and reliable energy. Through the CCS hub, millions of tons of CO2 will be captured from industrial sources and stored underground, leveraging the Kingdom's geological potential for CO2 storage. This milestone announcement at the Saudi Green Initiative Forum demonstrates a commitment to a circular carbon economy and aligns with the Kingdom's 2060 net-zero target.
