Assam has unveiled its Industrial and Commercial Energy Plan (ICEP) 2025 focused on driving clean energy adoption, particularly solar power, to address the state's growing industrial and commercial electricity demand. The plan aims to add 2,000 MW of renewable energy by 2025, with a significant portion coming from solar projects. Assam is targeting a shift towards 50% of new industrial and commercial demand being met through clean energy sources. The state has identified land for solar development and plans to facilitate rooftop solar installations and energy-efficient technologies in industries to reduce carbon emissions. To attract investments in the clean energy sector, Assam is offering incentives and establishing monitoring cells to ensure effective implementation of the plan. Additionally, the state is exploring energy storage solutions and green hydrogen production to future-proof its energy transition. The ICEP 2025 is expected to position Assam as a model for clean energy-driven industrial growth, emphasizing energy self-reliance, job creation, and carbon emission reduction.
