The European Commission has granted Enagás, the technical manager of the Spanish gas system, full funding amounting to 75.8 million euros for the studies of the green hydrogen corridor H2med and the initial axes of the Spanish hydrogen backbone network. This approval signifies a significant step towards the decarbonisation of European industry and the realization of the European Green Deal goals. Enagás' application for funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for these Projects of Common Interest was submitted in October 2024. The green hydrogen corridor H2Med seeks to establish connections between Celorico da Beira in Portugal and Zamora in Spain, as well as a maritime link between Barcelona and Marseille. The financial support provided by the European Commission will empower Enagás to advance the development of these crucial infrastructures, vital for the transition towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy landscape.
