Despite the high cost of green hydrogen compared to grey hydrogen, there is a push for investments, especially in the maritime sector, to drive decarbonisation. The Lloyd’s Register maritime decarbonisation hub held a roundtable to discuss the investment needed for hydrogen-based fuels in shipping, emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation. The International Maritime Organization's target for zero-emission fuels by 2030 highlights the pivotal role of hydrogen in maritime decarbonisation. Green shipping corridors are emerging globally, with a focus on infrastructure investments to secure a supply of green hydrogen-derived fuels. The dialogues between stakeholders aim to strengthen supply-demand linkages, enhance fiscal policies, and develop port locations to support regional energy developments.
