Hindu College, in a strategic partnership with HSSC and MSDE, has initiated a pioneering training program on green hydrogen in New Delhi, India. This program is a key component of the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) and aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge in green hydrogen technology under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) scheme. The focus of the program is to leverage green hydrogen, produced through renewable energy-powered water electrolysis, as a sustainable and clean fuel source. The initiative, inaugurated by Prof. Anju Srivastava, Principal of Hindu College, has received praise for its role in advancing clean fuel technologies and promoting environmental sustainability.
The training program, spanning four days and featuring 11 sessions, covers a wide array of topics ranging from the fundamentals of the hydrocarbon sector to the specifics of green hydrogen production and its applications. Through expert guidance from industry professionals like Dr. G.S. Kapur of GAIL India Ltd. and Dr. T. Bera of Indian Oil, among others, the program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of green hydrogen and its potential to revolutionize the energy landscape.
The course not only delves into the properties and applications of green hydrogen but also explores the critical energy transition necessary to combat greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. It offers participants insights into the global and Indian oil and gas sectors, emphasizing the significant role of hydrogen as a clean energy carrier in achieving net-zero emission targets. With a focus on practical learning, including field visits, the program is designed to empower students and position India at the forefront of the global shift towards sustainable energy.
This initiative underscores the commitment of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to foster indigenous manufacturing and cultivate expertise in green hydrogen technology. By equipping students with the necessary skills to engage in the energy transition towards sustainability, the training program at Hindu College signifies a significant step towards India's leadership in the green hydrogen sector.
