Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is making strides towards sustainability by planning to commission a green hydrogen plant in Panipat, Haryana. The Chairman of IOC, Arvinder Singh Sahney, revealed during the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos, Switzerland, that the 10,000 tons per annum plant has shown significant progress. This initiative aligns with India's green energy mission and aims for a sustainable and carbon-neutral future. In addition to the green hydrogen plant, IOC is actively expanding its city gas distribution (CGD) sector. The corporation is focusing on developing infrastructure, providing more connections to households, and increasing the availability of CNG stations and piped natural gas. The efforts in the CGD sector are crucial for enhancing energy accessibility and reducing carbon emissions. Chairman Sahney also addressed American sanctions on Russia and mentioned that India has diversified energy sources to meet its needs, diminishing the impact of sanctions. While there are no immediate plans for acquisitions, IOC remains committed to improving its operations with a green focus. This proactive approach demonstrates IOC's dedication to a cleaner and greener energy landscape and its significant role in India's energy transition.
