This milestone marks GAIL's venture into alternative energy sources, utilizing electricity generated from renewable sources such as solar energy to split water and create green hydrogen. The initiative aligns with India's ambitious National Green Hydrogen mission, which targets achieving 5 million tons of annual green hydrogen production capacity by 2030 to mitigate carbon emissions and address the nation's escalating energy requirements. Initially, the green hydrogen will be utilized alongside natural gas for internal processes at the Vijaipur facility, with future plans to distribute the hydrogen to retail customers in the vicinity and integrate it into the city gas distribution network.
