Oman's OQ Gas Networks (OQGN) is gearing up to develop a dedicated hydrogen pipeline by 2030, aligning with the country's renewable energy objectives. The 300-400-kilometer pipeline project is anticipated to secure funding approval by 2027, with plans for phased implementation starting from regional pipelines that will later grow into a national network. This initiative is set to bolster ongoing green hydrogen ventures led by eight consortiums in Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates, with technical contributions from Hydrom. OQGN is simultaneously exploring a carbon dioxide transport network to facilitate carbon capture and storage activities, along with utilization in various industrial sectors like fertilizers and desalination. Amid a surge in hydrogen-related projects in Oman, the company's push for sustainable energy solutions highlights a positive outlook for the adoption of green technologies and the expansion of the renewable energy market. The growing interest in green hydrogen is further evidenced by investments in projects like the HyDuqm green hydrogen initiative, signaling a shift towards cleaner energy sources in the region.
