- Initiative by Australian Gas Infrastructure Group to drive regional development in Albury-Wodonga region.
The $65.4 million Hydrogen Park Murray Valley project in Australia has officially entered its construction phase. It is expected to benefit around 40,000 residential and industrial customers in the Albury-Wodonga region on the New South Wales-Victoria border. The project will utilize a 10-megawatt electrolyser to produce 500 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually. This hydrogen will be used to displace natural gas locally, with blends of up to 10%, and is estimated to eliminate around 4,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
Funding for the project includes support from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency ($36.1 million), the Victorian Government ($12.3 million), and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation ($3.22 million). The initiative, led by the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group, aims to drive the development of energy infrastructure in the region, promoting the use of renewable energy sources and contributing to carbon reduction efforts.
