India is set to launch its first-ever hydrogen-powered train in May, featuring the world's most powerful hydrogen engine with 1,200 hp. Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw announced this milestone during the Republic Plenary Summit, emphasizing India's technological capabilities. Vaishnaw praised the country's talent in developing such advanced technologies domestically. Additionally, he spoke about the remarkable progress in locomotive technology, highlighting a 9,000-horsepower engine being developed in Gujarat, which boasts advanced features akin to a data center. Vaishnaw expressed confidence in India's potential to excel as a manufacturer and exporter of railway equipment, drawing parallels with the country's success in sectors like electronics and defense.
