Plug Power has announced the progress of its 15-tonne-per-day hydrogen plant in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, which is set for completion this quarter. This plant, operated by the joint venture Hidrogenii between Plug Power and Olin Corporation, will utilize grey hydrogen derived from Olin's by-product hydrogen from chlorine production. With the final commissioning phase underway and a dry-out process in progress to ensure high-purity hydrogen, Plug Power's liquid green hydrogen production capacity is expected to increase to 39 tonnes per day post-completion. The company emphasizes the facility's strong safety record, having completed over 412,000 work hours without incidents. Additionally, Plug Power introduced a spot pricing program for liquid hydrogen, aiming to provide clients with cost efficiency, transparency, and flexibility. This move is expected to optimize peak prices during high demand, expand the customer base, and improve market liquidity. The Louisiana plant is strategically positioned to support Plug Power's plans to supply hydrogen to key partners such as Amazon and Walmart.
