The U.S. Department of Energy's Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office, in partnership with the Office of Technology Transitions, has introduced a new initiative called the Industrial Sustainability, Energy Efficiency, and Decarbonization (ISEED) Collaborative, with a funding of $3 million. This collaborative effort aims to bolster workforce preparedness for decarbonizing the industrial sector in the United States. The ISEED Collaborative will focus on creating and distributing training programs and curricula centered on industrial sustainability, energy efficiency, and decarbonization. The resources developed by ISEED will cater to individuals at all levels of education and skill, empowering them to contribute to sustainable manufacturing practices. The goal is to reduce industrial emissions and transition the country towards a net-zero economy by 2050. The ISEED Collaborative is currently seeking membership proposals from organizations with expertise in various focus areas, including energy efficiency, industrial electrification, hydrogen production, and low-carbon fuels. These areas are crucial for decarbonizing industries that heavily rely on fossil fuels. Applications for membership are open until November 1, 2024. This initiative signifies a positive step towards enhancing the workforce's capabilities to drive sustainable practices and combat climate change in the industrial sector.
