Almost twenty European companies, with thyssenkrupp nucera at the forefront, have come together to form an alliance focused on advancing the hydrogen single market in Europe. The alliance, spanning France, Germany, Portugal, and Spain, aims to integrate hydrogen production, storage, and consumption along the H2Med Southwestern Hydrogen Corridor to drive decarbonization efforts in industrial sectors by the early 2030s. This initiative aligns with the European Green Deal and national decarbonization targets, aiming to establish a robust hydrogen value chain connecting the Iberian Peninsula with Northwestern Europe. The alliance was announced during an event in Madrid, attended by key government representatives, signifying strong support from policymakers. The alliance seeks to promote pipeline projects such as H2Med and HY-FEN, recognized as EU Projects of Common Interest, to further propel the hydrogen economy. By collaborating, scaling production capacities, and integrating infrastructure, the alliance sets the stage for a sustainable and competitive European industry, emphasizing the importance of timely infrastructure development for the success of the hydrogen economy.
