Scotland, known for its North Sea oil fields, is now embracing a green energy movement, exemplified by the HydroGlen project in the Scottish Highlands. This initiative, spearheaded by the James Hutton Institute, aims to revolutionize energy generation in rural farming communities through a green hydrogen microgrid. By integrating wind and solar energy with hydrogen production via electrolysis, the project will showcase how communities can achieve energy self-sufficiency while reducing emissions. The HydroGlen project, set to be operational by the end of 2025, is designed to combat fuel poverty and power outages in rural Scotland.
