Lucideon's Milestone: Achieving 100% Hydrogen Firing for Sanitaryware Production
Key Ideas
- Lucideon, in partnership with Creavit Türkiye, successfully completed 100% hydrogen firing of sanitaryware at the AMRICC Centre in the UK.
- The test, conducted at 1,200°C for over 13 hours, is part of efforts to decarbonise and align with the Transforming Foundation Industries initiative.
- Funding for the project comes from Innovate UK's EconoMISER program, supporting the Foundation Industries Sustainability Consortium (FISC) and its focus on decarbonisation across various themes.
- FISC, comprising partners like Lucideon, CPI, Glass Futures, Henry Royce Institute, and Materials Processing Institute, aims to advance sustainability in the industry through collaborative efforts.
Lucideon, a UK-based company, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing the 100% hydrogen firing of sanitaryware in collaboration with Creavit Türkiye. The project was carried out at the Applied Materials Research, Innovation, & Commercialisation Company (AMRICC) Centre, lasting more than 13 hours at 1,200°C. This accomplishment is seen as a step towards decarbonisation in line with the Transforming Foundation Industries initiative. The project's hardware was partially funded by Innovate UK's EconoMISER program, which supports the Foundation Industries Sustainability Consortium (FISC). FISC focuses on decarbonisation across six key themes: alternative fuels, circular economy, digital sensing, process optimisation, sustainable materials, and training and skills. The consortium includes partners such as Lucideon, CPI, Glass Futures, Henry Royce Institute, and Materials Processing Institute, all working together to drive sustainability and innovation in the industry.
