Apollo Green Energy's subsidiary, AGEL Renewable Energy Ltd, is making significant strides in the renewable energy sector by announcing an investment of Rs 500 crore to develop a 1 GW renewable energy portfolio in India. The subsidiary's primary focus will be on utility-scale solar projects, but it also aims to integrate advanced energy storage solutions, including hydrogen-based systems. This strategic move aligns with India's clean energy goals and aims to address critical gaps in the renewable energy landscape. AGEL Renewable Energy Ltd plans to actively participate in government tenders and establish power purchase agreements with utilities and commercial consumers to ensure the success of its projects. To support its ambitious goals, the company will be hiring up to 200 professionals across various functions such as engineering, project management, research and development, and operations. The emphasis on energy reliability and affordability is evident in the company's approach, which includes the use of advanced storage technologies like hydrogen and batteries. Apollo Green Energy Managing Director, Raaja Kanwar, emphasized the importance of this initiative in contributing to national renewable energy targets while fostering innovation in the sector. AGEL Renewable Energy Ltd operates across eight states in India and already manages a diverse portfolio of projects, including 400 MW of solar installations. This announcement underscores the company's commitment to sustainable energy practices and its proactive approach in driving the adoption of renewable energy sources.
