Fuella AS, a Norwegian renewable energy company with backing from Allianz Capital Partners, is planning a green hydrogen project in Brazil. The company has secured acreage at the Port of Acu in northern Rio de Janeiro state and intends to finalize an investment decision on a 400,000-ton-a-year green ammonia plant within four years. This initiative follows Brazil's recent approval of a legal framework to attract investments in low-carbon hydrogen production, reflecting the global shift towards clean energy sources. The project is strategically positioned to leverage the region's abundant and affordable renewable energy resources for green hydrogen production. Prumo Logistica SA, the port operator, is actively engaging with other hydrogen developers and aims to reserve the entire 1 million square meters of land for the hydrogen hub within eight months. The project's goal is to cater to export markets and industrial customers in Brazil, highlighting the economic viability of utilizing renewable energy for green hydrogen production.
