Union Minister Pralhad Joshi recently visited an integrated renewable energy storage project in Pinnapuram, Andhra Pradesh, with a total investment of $4.2 billion. The project, developed by Greenco Group, comprises $1.2 billion for the pumped storage component and $3 billion for solar and wind generation infrastructure. It includes a significant capacity of 4,000 MW of solar, 1,000 MW of wind, and 1,680 MW of pumped hydropower generation. With a storage capability of 10,080 MWh per day, the project aims to provide dispatchable, carbon-free energy to support industries like green steel, green aluminum, and green hydrogen production. Anil Chalamalasetty, the Group CEO and MD of Greenko, highlighted the importance of this initiative in the global drive to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries. By combining solar, wind, and pumped storage power, the project is set to play a crucial role in promoting sustainability and reducing carbon emissions in the region.
