The Steel Ministry's PLI scheme, initiated in 2020, has already attracted significant investment and generated employment in the specialty steel sector. The Ministry of Steel is now introducing the 'Green Steel Mission' with a focus on reducing carbon emissions and promoting green steel production. This aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission to produce and utilize green hydrogen, contributing to the decarbonisation of steel production. India is also formulating a comprehensive global strategy to position itself as a key player in the steel industry, emphasizing cooperation in raw materials, investments, technologies, and steel exports.
