Mitsubishi Power, a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, has secured a significant gas turbine supply order from Samsung C&T Corporation Saudi Arabia. The order involves supplying the M501JAC combined-cycle hydrogen-ready gas turbine for a new industrial steam and electricity co-generation plant in Saudi Arabia. This 475MW capacity co-generation power plant is being developed in Jubail, Eastern Province, by a consortium led by TAQA and JERA. The project aims to support a petrochemical complex and will be owned by a special purpose entity with TAQA holding a 51% stake. The plant will provide power to the SATORP Strategic Expansion, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and TotalEnergies. Mitsubishi Power's gas turbine is designed to blend hydrogen with natural gas, offering operational flexibility and contributing to a stable, low-carbon power supply. The turbine will be the first heavy-duty gas turbine by Mitsubishi Power assembled in Saudi Arabia. The company has also entered a long-term service agreement with the consortium to ensure the equipment's high performance and reliability. This project is a significant step in supporting Saudi Arabia's industrial expansion and decarbonisation goals, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030.
