FuelCell Energy, Inc. and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP) have announced a collaboration to pursue hydrogen energy projects in South Korea. The partnership aims to develop advanced energy solutions using FuelCell Energy's solid oxide electrolysis platform and KHNP's nuclear power plants. This joint initiative will focus on producing low-cost, domestic clean hydrogen by utilizing South Korea's energy sources and FuelCell Energy's expertise in solid oxide electrolyzer technology. FuelCell Energy's solid oxide electrolyzer cell can produce hydrogen at high efficiency without excess heat, offering a sustainable solution for hydrogen production. This partnership will allow hydrogen produced from electrolysis to be stored long term and transported, enabling zero carbon stored hydrogen energy to be available on demand. The collaboration also aims to explore the development of e-Fuel and ammonia production using the electrolyzer platform.
