Innomotics Delivers PR150 Systems for Green-Hydrogen Electrolyzer Testing at NREL
Key Ideas
  • Innomotics has been commissioned by the U.S. Dept. of Energy to provide three PR150 rectifier power supply systems for an electrolyzer testing facility at NREL in Colorado.
  • The tailored PR150 systems are designed for green hydrogen production and can power hydrogen electrolyzers within a 5 to 16 MW power range.
  • The project signifies a collaboration between industry and research entities to accelerate decarbonization efforts in hard-to-abate markets.
  • The installation of the systems at NREL's Flatirons campus is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2026.
In a recent announcement by Innomotics, it was reported that the U.S. Department of Energy has placed an order for three PR150 rectifier power supply systems and controls to be utilized at the electrolyzer testing facility for green-hydrogen electrolyzers at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) located in Golden, Colorado. Innomotics has specifically customized the PR150 systems for green hydrogen production, ensuring their compatibility with low- and medium-voltage applications to power hydrogen electrolyzers within a power range of 5 to 16 MW. These systems will be manufactured in Nuremberg and transported to the U.S. in a 40-foot packaged control room. Along with the three units, additional rectifier control and circuit protection equipment will also be included to complete the system, which is scheduled to be installed at NREL's Flatirons campus with operations planned to commence in the second quarter of 2026. CEO of Innomotics Americas, Doug Keith, highlighted the significance of the project as a collaborative effort with a prominent research and development institution, emphasizing the role of Innomotics rectifiers in advancing the green-hydrogen sector and supporting the development of this market segment.
